Why is this long journey of electric cars made by Tesla so relevant?
Tesla with the Tesla Model S has made the greatest possible contribution to people to believe in the future of electric cars. They showed that the Tesla Model S is quite reliable to make a long journey from Los Angeles to New York, approximately 3.427 miles (about 5.500 km), in just over 76 hours. Of course the cars stopped to recharge, making it in the Tesla superchargers available for free to Tesla customers. The Tesla Model S with a 100% charged battery has a range of about 400km. And the superchargers take about 20 minutes to load the batteries at approximately 50% charge.

Some might consider little, but it's not, because the other makes of electric cars have less autonomy up to 50% of the Tesla Model S, and have battery charging times also higher than the Tesla. Moreover brands such as Renault and Nissan sell their cars without batteries and then rent them for a monthly fee which entitles them to use a certain number of monthly km´s; this limitation is, from my point of view, a huge obstacle to the sale of these cars (if in a month you does not use the car you will have to pay the monthly rental of batteries and if in a month you want to overcome the number of km´s established by brand you will pay for the rental of batteries even greater cost).

Porque é tão relevante esta viagem de longo curso de carros eléctricos efectuada pela Tesla?
A Tesla com o Tesla Model S deu o maior contributo possível para que as pessoas acreditem no futuro dos carros eléctricos. Mostrou que o Tesla Model S é bastante fiável para efectuar uma longa viagem de Los Angeles até New York, cerca de 3,427 milhas (~5,500km), em pouco mais de 76 horas. Claro que as viaturas pararam para recarregar as baterias, fazendo-o nos super carregadores da Tesla, disponíveis gratuitamente para os clientes da Tesla. O Tesla Model S com as baterias carregadas a 100% tem uma autonomia de cerca de 400km. E os super carregadores conseguem em cerca de 20 minutos carregar as baterias a aproximadamente 50% da sua carga.

Alguns poderão considerar pouco, mas não é pois os carros eléctricos das outras marcas têm autonomias bem menores, inferiores até a 50% do Tesla model S, e têm tempos de carregamento de baterias também superiores aos da Tesla. Além disso marcas como a Renault e Nissan vendem os seus carros sem baterias e depois alugam as mesmas por uma mensalidade que dá direito a usá-las mensalmente num determinado número de kms; esta limitação é, do meu ponto de vista, um enorme entrave à venda destes carros (caso num mês não utilize o carro terá na mesma de pagar a mensalidade de aluguer das baterias, caso num mês pretenda ultrapassar em número de kms o estabelecido pela marca irá pagar pelo aluguer das baterias um custo ainda maior).
